Classically categorised under "kashaya" (astringent) herbs in Charaka Samhita, Babul is traditionally used for oral health, gum strengthening, respiratory mucous membrane support, and mild metabolic balance.
Related but different. Acacia gum (Arabic gum) is from Acacia senegal; Babul is Acacia nilotica, the Indian variety, which is more commonly used in Ayurvedic oral and metabolic formulas.
